  1. It’s probably a good thing I listen to these on my phone, the glare off of Dave’s dome might melt my desktop’s screen. (I kid, I kid, much love, I have a death ray deflector for a head as well)

Roddy Piper’s death hit me hard. He was kind of a big symbol and image throughout some of my formative years. I had always wanted to meet him.

I believe part of the reason’s for these wrestlers early deaths, especially in the 70s-80s-90s eras are the fact that they put their bodies through hell in the ring and in the gym, then outside of the ring experimented with steroids which at that time was pretty new and they were all kind of guinea pigs and most of them parties like rock stars, drugs, booze and women, then more drugs. Roddy admitted to engaging in this lifestyle and knew it took a huge toll on him.

Most wrestlers will also mention how they’d take illegal drugs to even just help them stay awake and keep going with the amounts of pain they were in and the constant driving and roadtrips they had to endure. These guys didn’t get cushy tour busses, plane rides or anything. Often times 4-5 of these giant men would cram themselves into an old impala and set out on the road for days at a time.
